My husband always told me I was flexible but this was something altogether different…

Posted by on March 6, 2012

Call it another baby step in my trying to overcome my fear of heights. This week, Lisa and I learned to swing on a trapeze!  (Is that even the way you say it?)?  Basically, you climb up a high ladder and then jump off the plank.  OK, there are instructions and harnesses and clips and nets but those are details – we STILL JUMPED!  Before you know it, they have you putting your legs on the bar and hanging backwards.  Finally, you try to fly through the air and grab the instructor hanging from his trapeze bar – and I even did that!  Maybe it had something to do with him being so good-looking and reaching his tan, muscular arms out to me.  Despite the reasons, Lisa and I swung around with a class full of twenty somethings and once again held our own.  This week, I encourage you to click on the link at the top of the page that says “Pictures” and take a look.  And then head to Santa Monica Pier to Trapeze School of New York – and tell them The Wallenda Sisters – I mean the Ringling Sisters – I mean the Middle Aged Soul Sisters of Manhattan Beach sent you :)

Followers: You really need to look at the slide show to really appreciate how brave these gals were. I really don’t think I could have ever done that.
