For those of you who know me, this is a biggie. That is because there are two things I really don’t enjoy:
1. exercising / exerting myself
2. walking/hiking/running with no destination – just going in a loop or worse, going back that way you came – I just don’t get it.
So imagine the world’s surprise to hear that I hiked this week for my We-Never outing. What’s the catch? The hike was to the Hollywood sign! As you know, anything that is related to the movies is a winner for me. So Lisa and I met our tour guide in Holleywoodland and away we went! He was terrific. Not only did he tell us about the sign, ownership, renovation, etc of the sign, but he also walked us through the neighborhood around the sign and told us about the architecture, previous tenants, old and new homes, and pointed out fun and interesting things about them. In between houses, he pointed out plants and trees and taught us about them: many of which were planted in the 1920′s when the sign was built. Honestly, it was so incredibly interesting that I did not realize that I walked up 861 steps and that we covered 2.5 miles of hills! It really is worth taking a look at the pictures to see what beauty is just miles from where we live. Only in Hollywood!
